William Clarence Ricketts, Jr., 82, of 31 Ricketts Road, Abbeville, SC husband of Barbara Ware Ricketts passed away November 2, 2014.
Born April 9, 1932 he was the son of the late William Clarence and Ruby Adams Ricketts.
He was raised in the Keowee section of Abbeville County. From an early age he worked on the farm plowing and helping raise crops to support the family. He served as an ambulance driver in the US Army Medical Corp during the Korean War. He worked in the Chiquola Textile Mill in Honea Path and later at the Milliken Plant in Abbeville. In 1974 he went to work with General Telephone of the Southeast, retiring as a switchman. Nothing meant more to him in life than his wife and three boys.
Survivors include two sons Darrell (Lisa) Ricketts of Aynor, SC and Terry (Millie) of Abbeville, SC; two sisters JoAnn R. (Jimmy Ray) Wilson of Belton, SC and Dot R. (Ronnie) Copelan of Simpsonville, SC; four brothers Larry (May) Ricketts of Salisbury, NC, Kenneth (Carolyn) Ricketts of Donalds, SC, Roger (Sandra) Ricketts of Donalds, SC and Tony (Vickie) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC; six grandchildren Thad (April) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC, Dustan (Katie) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC, Dr. Jessica Ricketts of Sumter, SC, Zachary (Brittney) of Aynor, SC, Seth Ricketts of Aynor, SC, Blake (Della) Ricketts of Abbeville, SC; and a great-granddaughter Ella Drake.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sybil R. Shirley and Shirley R. Sanders, and a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Darilyn Ricketts.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
The family will receive friends in the Social Hall at Little Mountian Presbyterian Church after graveside services.
