William "Bill" H. Kay

Funeral services for William H. "Bill" Kay, 81, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at Providence Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Bragan. Burial will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery, 1218 Hwy. 284, Abbeville, SC 29620. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be South Carolina State Constables. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church Cornerstone Fund, 1112 Hummingbird Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington and Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home of Abbeville are assisting the family.

Mr. Kay, loving husband of Carolyn, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Born in Abbeville, SC he was the son of the late Clarence H. and Viola Beauford Kay. He has been an area resident for over 41 years and a member of Providence Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder in the church. Mr. Kay retired from SC Department of Transportation. He was a member of the American Legion, Shriners' and S.C. State Constables. He loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, Carolyn B. Kay; son, William Kevin Kay of Duluth, GA; along with several nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary K. Sewell.
