Wilborn A. Timms, Jr.

Wilborn A. Timms, Jr., 91, resident of 365 Kay Road, Abbeville, passed away at HospiceCare of the Piedmont on August 30, 2018. He was born January 6, 1927 to Wilborn and Ruby Ferguson Timms in Abbeville County. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Doris Walker Timms. He is the father of Linda Hamrick (Barry) of Greenwood, SC, Blake Timms (Olivia) of Tamassee, SC, and was preceded in death by his son, Larry Timms of Branchville, SC.
He was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne during the second World War and served in Frankfurt, Germany as part of Eisenhower's Honor Guard. After his military service, he was employed by Greenwood Mills and retired after forty years as a supervisor at the Chalmer's Plant.
After retirement, he spent many hours on his farm - lovingly called the Funny Farm. He enjoyed growing his garden, tending his orchard, and teaching his grandchildren infinite life lessons. His grandchildren are McCain Hamrick (Kelly) of Charlotte, NC, Brooks Casteel (Chris) of Asheville, NC, Rachel Berry (Randon) of Branchville, SC, Tayler Bock (Dylan) of Abbeville, SC, William Billbrough of Branchville, SC, Cooper Timms of Tamassee, SC, Natalie and Knox Berry of Branchville, SC and, Blakely and Lucy Casteel of Asheville, NC.
Junior is also survived by his sister Adair Upton (Preston) of Greenwood, SC, and brothers, Mickey Timms (Eris) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Ricky Timms (Debbie) of Iva, SC. He is preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 2nd at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Following the service, family will receive friends at the Memorial Gardens Social Hall.
