Westfield 'Wes' Newton Newell, 88, resident of 6001 N.W. 55th Street Oklahoma City, OK husband of Jane Burkhalter Newell died Thursday June 23, 2005 at his home.
Mr. Newell was a native of Abbeville, SC and a son of the late Andrew Baskin and Louise Milford Newell.
He graduated from Abbeville High School and attended Erskine College. He was a U.S. States Army veteran of World War 11, serving in the 178th Field Artillery Battalion until his transfer to Fort Sill, OK. Following his career there as an Aeornautic Maintenance Engineer and flight instructor, he was one of Oklahoma City's premier automotive instructo/mechanics until his retirement in 1988.
Survivors are: his wife of the home Jane Burkhalter Newell,
is children Daniel Newell and his wife Jenny, Janice Witten and her husband Kenneth all of Oklahoma City, OK, Deborah DeWitt and her husband Clint of Norman. OK and three sisters Thelma Suber, Doris Richey and Polly Smith all of Abbeville, SC, and four brothers Ray. Aldolphus, Jack and Mortimer Newell all of Abbeville, SC., and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Rodney and three brothers, Edward, Joe and Richard Newell.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday June 29, 2005 at 10 A.M from Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City with Military rites.
