Tommy Broome

John Thomas “Tommy” Broome, 69, resident of Abbeville Arms Apts. passed away Wednesday May 1, 2019 at his home.

Born in Abbeville, SC he was a son of the late William Raymond “Buddy” Broome, Jr. and Frances Long Broome.

Tommy was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Gordon Military Academy on a football scholarship. He was a retired insurance agent. Tommy was very active with the Abbeville Youth Athletics serving as a football and baseball coach for many years. He was a former board member and was a baseball umpire and a football official. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. Tommy also served in the National Guard for a number of years.

Survivors include: two sons Scott Broome (Kimberly) and Jonathan Broome both of Abbeville, SC; a sister Robin Broome of Abbeville, SC; three brothers Jimmy Broome, Bob Broome (Patti) and Mark Broome (Emily); five grandchildren Ariana Broome, Kali Broome, Austin Cadden, Audrey and Sydney McCurry; a number of cousins and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Tommy’s life will be held Sunday May 5, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family is at the home of his sister Robin Broome 1008 North Main St. Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home prior to services.
