Sarah Brown Schrimpf

Sarah Brown Schrimpf, 100, passed away peacefully Thursday Oct. 16, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born Sept. 21, 1914 in Anderson Co. SC she was a daughter of the late James Wesley Brown and Vashti Tate Brown.

Sarah was the widow of George Herron Schrimpf and a retired homemaker. She was a loyal and faithful member of Main St. United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities: Sunday School Teacher, Circle Leader, President of United Methodist Women and a member of the Administrative Council. She was also the oldest living member of Main St. where she recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Sarah was also active in her community as a Charter member of the Abbeville Cotillion Club, member of the Entre Nous Book Club, Abbeville Historical Society and the Abbeville Heritage House. She will be remembered for her warm and caring nature and will be missed by her loving family and her many friends.

Survivors are: daughter-in-law Bonnie Schrimpf of Charleston, SC; son-in-law Joe Nehme of Anderson, SC; four grandsons James Fredric Schrimpf, Jr. (Vicky) of Walterboro, SC, Lt. Colonel John Herron Schrimpf (Caroline) of Newport News, Virginia, Allen Dial (Carol) of Charleston, SC and Alex Dial of Clemson, SC; a granddaughter Amy Martin (Evan) of Charleston, SC; eleven great- grandchildren and a sister Hazel Young of Anderson, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Herron Schrimpf, son James Fredric Schrimpf, daughters Sarah Linda Dial and Tess S. Nehme.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday Oct. 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM in Main St. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. The burial will follow in Flat Rock Cemetery in Anderson Co. SC.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM in the Greene Center at Main St. United Methodist Church.
