Sara Ruth Sparks, age 84, of Lithonia, died Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
She was born in Elberton to parents, Henry Lee and Minnie Beatrice Brady. Sara was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Conyers and worked as the manager of Sargent’s Drive-In Restaurant in Lithonia for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, visiting in the mountains, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, A. L. Sparks, Sr; sons, Billy Sparks and Rodney Lee Sparks; parents, Henry and Minnie Brady; sisters, Hellen Orso, Dorothy Hawks, Ruby Lee Suttles and Emma Francis; and brother William Henry Brady.
Surviving are her daughter; Terry Jean Barnett and her husband, Johnny; sons, A.L. Sparks, Jr. and his wife, Elaine of Stockbridge, Joe Sparks and Elizabeth of Conyers, Ben Sparks of Lithonia, and Charles Sparks and his wife, Mitzi, of Social Circle; sisters, Ellen Brady of Fort Wayne, Ind.. Florence Turner of Elberton and Charlotte Brady and her husband, Joe, of Elberton; brother, James Edward Brady; grandchildren, Danielle, Johnny, Josh, Jeff, Jonathan, Lisa, Erik, Lindsey, Erica, Jeremiah, Kayla, Jesse, Ben, Jr., Charles, Jr., Chase, Cara and Hope; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 12 o’clock, Saturday, October 5, at Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 133 Watts Rd., Abbeville, SC, 29620, with A. L. Sparks officiating.
