Ruth Mundy Strawhorn

Ruth Mundy Strawhorn, 95, resident of Magnolia Manor Nursing Center passed peacefully Thursday Jan. 31, 2008 at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC she was a daughter of the late John H. and Blanche Martin Mundy. She was the widow of Lemuel Calvin "Callie" Strawhorn.

Ruth was a retired employee of the Abbeville Co. Courthouse with over 40 years of service. Ruth worked in many offices during her tenure at the courthouse. She served as the County Auditor and also the Clerk of Court. She also worked in the Abbeville County Judge of Probate's office. Ruth was an active member of Abbeville First Baptist Church were she was the former secretary. She was also an associate member of the Ladies Cheryl Camp W.M.U. Circle. Ruth loved her circle dearly. Ruth will be missed by her loving family and her many friends.

She is survived by 1 brother Johnny W. Mundy and his wife Frances of Paducah, KY; a brother-in-law James Mattison and his wife Caroleen of Abbeville, SC; a number of nieces and nephews and her extended family of Mr. & Mrs. Merl Beiler for the last 35 years.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Harrison, Raymond and Carroll Mundy and a sister Sarah Mattison.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Feb. 3, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Mr. Merl Beiler and Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating. The burial will be in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Merl Beiler 45 Maplewood Drive Abbeville, SC.

The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will recieve friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon prior to services.
