Rufus Terrell Smith, Jr

Rufus Terrell Smith, Jr., 61, resident of 701 Brooks St. husband of Juanita Bearden Smith passed away peacefully Tuesday Sept. 29, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Greenwood, SC he was a son of the late Rufus Terrell Smith, Sr. and Rachael Finley Smith.

Rufus was a retired textile employee and attended the Church of God. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his love for others. He was affectionately known by his friends and family as ""Papa Smurf".

Survivors include: His beloved wife Juanita Bearden Smith of the home; two daughters Angela Marie Powell and Delilah Smith both of Abbeville, SC; one son Joseph Shane Brooks of Belton, SC; three sisters Linda Leopard and Patricia Hill both of Abbeville, SC and Vickie Sweat-of Greenwood, SC; three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday Oct. 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Marion Argo officiating. The family is at the home 701 Brooks St. Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM Friday afternoon prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials in memory of Rufus may be made to Chandler-Jackson Funeral, 208 S. Main St. Abbeville, SC 29620 to help defray the cost of services.
