Roger Dale Burden

Rev. Roger Dale Burden, 76, husband of Patricia "Pat" Mann Burden, resident of Holiday Dam Rd., entered into rest Tuesday April 1, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 4, 1948 in Clinton, SC to the late Leroy Syms and Ruby Cody Burden, he received his ministry degree from Lee University and began a 50 plus year ministry serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a by-vocational pastor and worked in construction as well as the South Carolina Department of Corrections, where he was a certified plain clothes Correctional Officer. He retired from Taxahaw Baptist Church in Kershaw as well as SCDC. Roger was employed part-time with Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home as well as Cox Funeral Home.

He was a faithful member of Little River Baptist Church where he served in many capacities.

Surviving other than his loving wife of 14 years, of the home, are his children, Tina Blake (Tim) of Chesnee, Roger Lee Burden (Kim) of Dalton GA, Danny Burden (Annette) of Silver Street, Rachel Burden of Newberry, and Robert Burden (Elsa) of Simpsonville; his sisters, Lou Tinsdale (Butch), Willette Glenn (David), and Jan Gosa: his brother, Mike Burden (Nancy) ; his grandchildren, Todd Craine (Marianda), Cody Burden, Ashlee Wicker (Derek), Dalton Brogdon (Sara), Hayley Garcia, Cali Brogdon, Elijah Burden, Jaedan Mullins, MarLee Burden, Hayden Brogdon, and Eli Lewis; 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Roger Dale Burden, Jr., a daughter, Lisa Wilbanks, a step daughter, Andrea Lewis, a sister, Carolyn Burden, and a brother, James Daniel Calloway, a grandson, Andrew Craine.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday April 5th at 3:00 PM from Little River Baptist Church with Robert Burden, Rev. Ben Rumph, and Rev, Garrett Hart officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Roger’s name be made to the Nehemiah Fund of Little River Baptist Church, 2847 Keowee Road, Honea Path, SC 29654.
