Philip Ronald Martin

Philip Ronald Martin, Sr., 77, resident of 233 Whip-O-Will Rd., husband of Gwen Hughes Martin, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Born in Abbeville, SC, he was a son of the late Guy William Martin, Sr. and Emma Argo Martin.

Philip was a 1953 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Clemson College and received has BS Degree in Business in 1968 at Erskine College. Philip retired from textiles having worked at various plants. Upon retirement he worked at local grocery stores most recently at Bi-Lo Inc. He was a faithful member of Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn Hughes Martin of the home; 2 daughters, Merri Hash (Greg) of Greer, SC and Elizabeth Henderson (Neil) of Abbeville, SC; 2 sons, Philip Martin, Jr. (Erica) of Houston, TX and Daniel Martin (Sarah) of Irmo, SC; a brother Bill Martin and his wife Dorothy Allard of Vermont; 8 grandchildren, Chandler and Conner Hash, Brandon and Barrett Henderson, Miles, Conley, Meryl Martin and Corin Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Ray Massey and Marion Argo officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:30 PM in the Social Hall at Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church prior to services. The family is at the home 233 Whip-O-Will Rd.
