Patricia Ann Kittell Owens

Patricia Ann “Pat” Kittell Owens, 89, wife of George Harrison Owens, Sr., resident of George Owens Road, entered into rest Monday March 3, 2025 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born on October 23, 1935 in Endicott, NY to the late Fred G and Arvada R Kittell, she was a 1953 graduate of LeRaysville High School in LeRaysville, PA., and afterwards attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA. She enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1954 and served until her Honorable discharge in December of 1955. While in the Air Force she met and married George on May 9, 1955. After relocating to South Carolina she graduated from Lander University in 1978 with a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and received her Master degree from Clemson University in 1982. Pat taught at Antreville Elementary School from 1978-1995 and at Diamond Hill Elementary School from 1995 until she retired in 1998.

Pat enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, and reading, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Throughout the years she served her Lord and Savior as a sunday school teacher, choir member, and served as Church Secretary at Midway Baptist for many years. She was a current member of First Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving other than her husband of 69 years, of the home, are her children, George Harrison “Harry” Owens, Jr. of Honea Path, Miriam Owens Swaney (Steve) of Abbeville, Nancy Owens Lowe of Abbeville, and Dianne Owens of Laurens; her sister, Darlene McCarthy of Abbeville; her grandchildren, Ben Owens, Jonathan Owens, Cassie Owens, Jennifer Clinkscales, Susan Rawlings, Misty Branyon, and Stephanie Hembree; 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 7th at 2:00 PM from First Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Pat’s name be made to First Creek Baptist Church, 9511 Abbeville Hwy., Iva, SC 29655.
