Mitchell “Roy” Madden, 77, husband of Kathy Tiller Madden, resident of N. Main St., entered into rest Tuesday December 31, 2024, at NHC Greenwood, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 16, 1947 in Switzer SC to the late Joel Ray and Mary Sue Fortner Madden, he was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, where he ran track and played football. He retired from Greenwood Mills where he worked many years as a fixer.
Roy was an avid Clemson fan, as well as a NASCAR fan. Dale Earnhart Sr. “3” was his all time favorite driver.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Surviving other than his wife of 30 years, of the home, are his children, Stephanie Rene Madden of Anderson, Fritz “Eric” Madden (Emily) of Woodbridge VA, Joel Patrick Madden and Ronda Marie Gordon (Bill) all of Anderson, Steven Curtis Bates of Abbeville, and Anita Crystal Waters of Seneca; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, George Bernard Compton, Jr. “Bean”, and 2 brothers, Michael Ray Madden, Sr., and James Louis Madden.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday Jan. 4, 2025 from the Chandler Chapel of the Chandler Jackson Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Madden officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home. Memorials may be made in Roy’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
