Mary Jo McCurry Parnell

Mary Jo McCurry Parnell, 82, resident of 118 Calhoun St., widow of Charles Carroll Parnell, Sr. passed away peacefully Thursday morning Dec. 15, 2016 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville, SC she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mae Smith McCurry.

Mary Jo was a retired textile employee with Haile's Manufacturing. She enjoyed fishing, caring for flowers and especially enjoyed making crafts for her family and friends. She was a member of New Life Worship Center. She will be missed by her loving family and her many friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Ware of Abbeville, SC and Wanda Parnell of Greenwood, SC; two step-sons, Charles Carroll Parnell, Jr. of McCormick and Olin Parnell of Greenwood, SC; five grandchildren and a number of step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters Pat Stone and Kimberly Parnell and a son Terry Parnell and a step-daughter Brenda Sexton

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Dec. 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Cutter officiating. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the funeral home prior to services. The family is at the home of her daughter Lynn Ware 118 Calhoun St. Abbeville, SC 29620.
