Mary 'Lena' Crawford Ayers, 75, of The Maples, Honea Path, formerly of 1217 Rock Hill Road, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was retired from Flexible Technologies. She was instrumental in the formation of the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department. She was also active in the 4-H. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of The Mary Killingsworth Sunday school class.
Surviving are widower, Rufus Ayers of the home; daughters, Mary Anne Rice of Belton, and Ruthie Edmunds of Abbeville; son, David Ayers of Easley; seven grandchildren; and one brother, James P. Crawford of Due West.
She was the daughter of the late Calvin Winn and Mary Neva Price Crawford. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Main St. United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bob Clemons; entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.
