Martha B. Richey Miner, 82, resident of 104 Marshall Ave. wife of Roger L. Miner passed away peacefully at The Hospice House in Greenwood SC Sunday Jan. 17, 2016.
Born in Elberton, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Claude Balchin and Mattie Chandler Balchin.
Martha was a retired textile employee having worker for Burlington Mills and WestPoint-Pepperell. She will be remembered for her loving and caring nature by her loving family and her many friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband Roger Lewis Miner of the home; two daughters Faye Johnson of Abbeville, SC and Marilyn Tate (Jeff) of Bowman, GA; one son Curtis Smith of Abbeville, SC; three step-daughters Carolyn Richey of Abbeville, SC, Sandra Ducy of New York City, NY and Lisa Jones of NE; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Debra Smith.
She was twice married first to the late William Richey. She was preceded in death by a son Tony Smith and 5 brothers Charles, T.O., Jack, Bud and J.E. Balchin; 3 sisters Louise Anderson, Claudine Balchin and Sue Bailey; and son-in-law James Larry Johnson, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Jan. 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Rev. James Long officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home 104 Marshall Ave. Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Martha may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
