Marion "Jay" Scoggins, 60, resident of 402 Cherokee St. husband of Sandra Thomason Scoggins passed away Wednesday Nov. 14, 2012 at his home.
Born in Abbeville, SC he is the son of Polly Ashley Scoggins and the late Marion Scoggins.
Jay was a 1972 graduate of Abbeville High School. He also attended Piedmont Tech. He was employed with Flexible Technologies with over 40 years of service. Jay was a mason and a member of the Clinton Lodge #3 AFM. He was a Shriner and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple in Greenville, SC. Jay was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood. He was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and enjoyed working in his yard and piddling doing odd jobs in his shop. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
Survivors inclue his loving wife of 36 years Sandra Thomason Scoggins of the home; 4 sons Wayne Lawrence of Abbeville, SC, David Lawrence and his wife Laura of Abbeville, SC, Shane Lawrence and his special friend C.T. Horton of Walterboro, SC and Daniel Scoggins and his wife Angela of Savannah, GA; his mother Polly Ashley Scoggins of Abbeville, SC; 1 brother Joe Scoggins and his wife Kathy of Abbeville, SC; 1 sister Janice Hair and her husband James of Liberty, SC; 3 grandchildren Katherine Lawrence, Patricia Lawrence and Kurtis Lawrence.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday Nov. 16, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Mr. Donnie Grant officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home 402 Cherokee St. Abbeville.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:30 PM Friday afternoon at the funeral home prior to services.
