Marie Frye Stroud

Marie Frye Stroud, 91, formerly of Abbeville, widow of J.C. Stroud, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Bay Side Health Care in Virginia Beach, Va.

Born in Richmond, Va., she was the adopted daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Irvin Frye of Lexington. She was a homemaker and attended the Methodist church.

Surviving are sons, Joal C. Stroud of Virginia Beach and Keith M. Stroud of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Tommie Lander of Abbeville and Alice Hughes of Ware Shoals; 27 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Archie Stroud; and two daughter, Jan Peeler and Mary Huguenin.

Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Marion Argo officiating. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday before services
