Margaret Loraine Baldwin Bowie

Margaret Baldwin Bowie, 85, formerly of Donalds, SC, widow of Fred Allen Bowie, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 8, 2016 at National Healthcare in Laurens, SC. Born in Abbeville County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Mae Getsinger Baldwin.

Margaret had a love for gardening and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Gilgal United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and also taught Sunday school. She will be remembered fondly for her excellent cooking.

Mrs. Bowie is survived by a son Harold "Jim" Bowie (Sue) of Waterloo, SC; Margaret was proud of her four grandchildren Sarah Catto (Nick) of Charleston, SC, Chad Bowie (Allie) of Charleston, SC, Ben Bowie (Heather) of Columbia, SC and Emily Bowie of Durham, NC; She found delight in her two great-grandchildren Nicholas Catto and Cheston Bowie. A brother, Bill Baldwin (Juanita) of Anderson also survives her.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Gilgal United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Hammett officiating. The burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the social hall at Gilgal United Methodist Church prior to services.

The family is at the home of his son Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bowie 122 Lick Creek Circle Waterloo, SC.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Margaret may be made to Gilgal UMC c/o Gerald Milford 950 Milford Dairy Rd. Abbeville, SC 29620.
