Luther Allen Turnage

September 11, 1941 — November 28, 2011

Luther Allen Turnage, 70, resident of 308 Ferry St., husband of Janie Bratcher Turnage, passed away peacefully at his home Monday evening November 28, 2011.

Born in McCormick Co. SC, he was a son of the late Paul C. Turnage and Cora Lee Ramsey Turnage.

Luther was a retired textile weaver with West Point Pepperell. He was also a member of Westside Baptist Church. Luther enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He will be sorely missed by all.

Survivors innclude his beloved wife of 46 years, Janie Bratcher Turnage of the home; 2 sons, Michael Vaughn and Allen Turnage of the home; 2 brothers, Henry Turnage and his wife, Marlene, of Abbeville, SC and Dwight Turnage of Greenville, SC; 1 sister, Mary Medlin of Greenwood, SC; 2 half brothers and 4 half sisters; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by 1 daughter and 3 sons.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 1, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Blackwell and Mr. DeWayne Evans officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home 308 Ferry St.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Thursday afternoon at the funeral home prior to services.
