Carrie Lorena Langford Wardlaw, 84, widow of Frank M. Wardlaw, Sr., resident of 310 Murrell St. Troy, SC, died Jan. 4, 2015 at her home. Born in Saluda County, Oct. 6, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Tennie Manley Langford. She was a graduate of Saluda High School and Winthrop College where she majored in Chemistry and Biology. Later she got her M.Ed at Winthrop University. She did research at The Charles F. Kettering Foundation in Dayton, Ohio. After her marriage she began teaching in McCormick, then in Greenwood District 50 at Troy School and then at Matthews School for 25 years before retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Wardlaw grew up and was an active member of Sardis Baptist Church in Saluda, SC. In 1952, she became a member of the Troy ARP Church where she taught various Sunday School Classes for 61 years and served faithfully in many facets of church work.
She is survived by 6 brothers and sisters Jean Nassef, Elsie (Charles) Brewton, Jackie (Don) Powell, Manley (Mickey) Langford, Billy (Kay) Langford, and Louis (Rose) Langford. She is survived by five children Karen (Don) Ford, Elizabeth Lewis, Susan (Bil) Heath, Frank (Becky) Wardlaw, Jr., Mary Jo (Dane) Colbert and nine grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at Troy ARP Church 116 Greenwood St. Troy , SC at 2:00 PM Saturday Jan. 10, 2015 with the Rev. John Paul Marr, Rev. Dr. Ray King and Rev. Dr. Roy Beckham officiating.
The family is at the home and will receive friends in the church social hall following services. A private burial will be in the Troy Cemetery.
