Julia "Mama T" Finley Terrell

Julia "Judy" Finley Terrell, 87, formerly of 112 McGowan Ave. widow of William Buffon Terrell, Jr. passed away Monday Aug. 18, 2008 at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Born in Atlanta, GA she was a daughter of the late William Benjamin "Casey" and Ivy Dan Moore Terrell.

Mrs. Terrell was a retired homemaker and very active in community affairs early in her life. She was a former Pre-School teacher at Moses Waddell Academy. She was very active in the Abbeville Recreation Dept. where she was the former swim coach.

Mrs. Terrell was an avid Abbeville Panther fan and was one of the founding members of the Abbeville Booster Club. She was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Goodtimers Club, the Lillian Killingworth Sunday School Class and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was affectionately known by her many friends and church family as Mama T.

Survivors include 2 daughters Linda Nickles and her husband William of Anderson, SC and Pam Herron and her husband Dave of Abbeville, SC; 3 sons Bill Terrell and his wife Rose of Abbeville, SC, Jack Terrell and his wife Carol Smith of Irmo, SC and Jimmy Terrell of Columbia, SC; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Pat Nickles and Steven T. Smith and a sister Frances Newton and brother Jack Finley.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008 at 4:00 PM in The Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.

The body is at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening. The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Dave Herron 3000 Secession Rd. Ext. Abbeville, SC.
