Joyce Sullivan Townes

Joyce Ann Sullivan Townes, 79, widow of the late Donald W. Townes, resident of Hwy. 413, entered into rest Friday January 3, 2025 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on April 8, 1945 in Augusta, GA to the late William Alton and Della Fountian Sullivan, she was a high school and college graduate. She retired from Jackson Mills.

Joyce was an avid reader, visiting the Iva Library often, she loved to play cards, especially Uno, Crazy 8’s, and Old Maid. In her younger years she and Papa would take the grandchildren camping at the beach. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

Surviving are her children, Robin Jones, Darlene Latham (Andy), Charles William Ashley all of Iva, and Bobby Joe Loftis, Jr. (Amanda) of Honea Path; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a special friend, Robert Conlee; her fur babies, Lucy and Ms. Kitty. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Jackie Alton Sullivan and William Billy Sullivan, a sister, Betty “Sharon” Sullivan.

A memorial service will be conducted Monday, January 6, at 3:00 PM from the Chandler Chapel of the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Royster officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Darlene Latham.
