John "Wallace" Ferguson, 82, of 3321 Stevenson Road died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a World War II veteran and was a retired engineer with the CSX Railroad. He was a mason and a member of the Clinton Lodge AFM with over 62 years service. He was a member of Bells United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Jane Lawton and Marcy Grant, both of Abbeville; brothers, Sam Ferguson, Carroll Ferguson and Hubert Ferguson, all of Abbeville; sister, Molly Jane "Billie" Ferguson of Abbeville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the widower of Dorothy Young Ferguson and the son of the late John P. and Maggie Nance Ferguson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Eakin and Margaret Ferguson.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bells United Methodist Church cemetery with the Revs. Lowery and Beth Drennen officiating. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
