Jewell Botts

Jewel Grace Loftis Botts, 95, of the nation's Community, Abbeville, SC, wife of the late Lt. Col Billy Botts, USA, Ret. died on April 13, 2018 in Abbeville. She was the daughter of the late John Evans Loftis and Lula Mae Watkins Loftis.
"Mama John" as the family affectionately called her was an active member of Smyrna Methodist Church in Lowndesville, SC. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the Braves, playing golf, and playing card games including Bridge, Setback, and Spades. She loved to cook for her family and did so for many family events. She and her husband lived and travelled extensively all over the US while he served in the US Army. She retired from Flexible Technologies in the 90's.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Coach Dennis Wayne Botts, Sr.: sisters Aileen Nixon, Elizabeth Purdy, Clatie McNeil, Mary Ann Breedlove, and a brother Joe Loftis.
She is survived by two sons, L. Billy "Bill" Botts, Jr. and Michael Glenn Botts (Debbie), special caregiver) of Abbeville; two sisters Betty Sammons of Calhoun Falls and Tabatha Thompson of Clarksville, Virginia, and one brother Billy Leon Loftis (Gerry) of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren Shannon Botts Temple (Tony), MaryAnn Botts Nickles (Tom) , Dennis Wayne Botts, Jr. (Lana), Alice Botts Polatty (Danny), Jonathan Evans Botts (Rebecca), Amy Rebecca Botts, Matthew Botts, and Dallas Botts, Daughter in law Dionne Botts Mills, Daughter in law/special caregiver Susan Petty.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday April 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Smyrna United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dan Fortney and Tony Temple officiating. The burial will follow in Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church social hall Monday prior to the services from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
