James Franklin White, 78, husband of Minnie Sue Cox White, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 in Abbeville, SC.
James was born in Abbeville on August 12, 1941 to the late Benjamin Franklin White and Mary Frances Hunter White. He was a 1959 graduate of Abbeville High School. He retired from CSX Transportation as a locomotive engineer after 40 years of service and also served in the South Carolina National Guard.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years are his sister Mary Elizabeth Hurt (Bryant) of McCormick, SC; sons William Benjamin “Benji” White (Angela) and Jeffery Norman White, both of Abbeville, SC; grandsons Christopher Bowers (Andrea), Stephen White (Beth Ellen), and Justin White; and great-granddaughter Araya Bowers.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday Dec. 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Ellenberg officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to services. The family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of James may be made to United Christian Ministries of Abbeville County.
