James Irvin 'Jimmy' McNatt, Sr., 69, resident of 114 Ellis Ave. husband of Lue Virginia Prater McNatt passed away Thursday Jan. 14, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Middletown, Delaware he was a son of the late James Thomas McNatt and Elizabeth Pike McNatt.
Jimmy was a United States Army veteran having been stationed in Fort Benning Georgia and also in Germany. He also served for a number of years in the National Guard. He was a retired Supervisor in the Product and Control Dept. with Pirelli Cable for over 32 years. He was an avid sports fan having excelled in baseball as he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies at the age of 18. Jim also served as a volunteer driver with the Greenwood Rehabilitation Center. He was a member and deacon at Church of God Union Assembley Holiness Church.
Survivors are his beloved wife of 49 years and 3 months Lue Virginia Prater McNatt of the home; 1 son James Irvin 'Jim' McNatt, Jr. and his wife Janet of Greenwood, SC; 1 daughter Wanda Lisa Christopher of the home; 1 sister Betty Darla Powell of Middletown, Delaware; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 daughters Deanna Rena McNatt and Karen Leigh McNatt.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Jan. 17, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbie Butler officiating. The burial will be on Monday Jan. 18, 2010 at 3:00 PM in West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, Georgia.
The body is at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to services. The family is at the home 114 Ellis Ave. Abbeville, SC.
