SMSGT James Larry McDonald, Retired, 78, beloved husband of Dorothy Uldrick McDonald entered into eternal rest Thursday Feb. 28, 2013 at Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.
Born August 9, 1934 in Calhoun Falls, SC he was a son of the late Larry Edward McDonald and Geneva Waters McDonald. He was a resident of 304 Northside Drive Greenwood, SC.
James served 21 years with the USAF at Dover AFB, DE; Thule Greenland; Grand Forks AFB, ND; Clark AFB, PI; McConnell AFB, KS; Udorn AFB, Thailand: McDill AFB, FL and retired from Shaw AFB, SC. After his retirement he worked Civil Service at Shaw AFB, SC and Ft. Jackson, SC until 1995.
He was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC.
Survivors include his beloved wife of the home; 2 daughters Debbie Clark (Randy) of Prattville, AL and Shelia Demass (Mike) of Niceville, FL; 3 sons Mike McDonald (Kelly) of Greenwood, SC, Eddie McDonald (Joan) of Boise, ID and Danny Boy McDonald of Whitten Center in Clinton, SC; 13 grandchildren Angie Seamon, Kristan Popham, Chris Clark, Brandy McDonald, Brandon McDonald, Tiffany McDonald Herring, Troy McDonald, Julian Trent McDonald, Andrew James McDonald, Justin Demass, Joshua Demass, Jeremy Demass and Jake Demass; great grandchildren Abbi Seamon, Campbell Seamon, Austin McDonald, Kyley Herring, Shelby Wywias, Trey Wywias, Tyler Ayama, Liam McDonald, Zoe McDonald, Isaiah McDonald, Junior McDonald, Jaylynn McDonald, Brayden McDonald, Kameron McDonald; 2 sisters Evelyn McDonald Banks (Bill) and Martha McDonald Dover (Gene) both of Fort Mill, SC; a number of special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to Thank Dr. Bob Todd and the staff at HospiceCare of the Piedmont for their kind and loving care during their stay.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Luke Simms officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Masonic Rites and Full Military Honors.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the Funeral Home prior to services. The family is at the home 304 Northside Drive Greenwood, SC.
Pallbearers will be Mr. McDonald's grandsons:Troy McDonald, Trent McDonald, Jeremy Demass, Justin Demass, Nathan Popham and Heath Seamon.
