Rev. James "Jim" William McAlister, 74, resident of 200 Harmony Rd. Ware Shoals, SC husband of Fran Brashier McAlister passed away Wednesday Oct. 22, 2008 at his home.
Born in Anderson, SC he was a son of the late Montague "Snag" and Ruth McAlister. He was twice married, first to the late Dot McAlister.
He was a graduate of Emory University Theological Seminary. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was currently serving the Gilgal United Methodist and Shiloh United Methodist Churches. He also served many other charges during his career. He was a member of the United Methodist Conference of North Georgia. He was also a mason and a member of the Campbell Lodge in Clinton, SC where he received his 50 year Masonic Pin. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple in Greenville, SC. Rev. McAlister will be remembered as a loving husband, father, step-father and grandfather to his family and will be sorely missed by his many friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife Fran Brashier McAlister of the home; 3 daughters Suzie Wheeler, Carla Boyd and Donna Gibson; 2 step-sons Jimmy Brashier and Eddie Brashier; 4 step-daughters Debbie Dowell, Pam Lee, Sherri Akridge and Angie Hollingsworth; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday Oct. 25, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Gilgal United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Childs and Dr. Billy Manning officiating.
The family will recieve friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the church prior to services. The family is at the home of his step-son Jimmy Brashier 109 Madison Ridge Rd. Piedmont, SC.
