James ''Jim'' Kenneth Edens, II, beloved husband of Neannie Parkins Edens, died Sunday morning, October 10, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, SC.
His father, James Kenneth Edens, Sr. predeceased him. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Culpepper Edens of Abbeville, SC; brothers, Joseph Lee Edens and fiance, Sandra Standridge of Ware Shoals, SC and Robert Anthony Edens and wife, Jean of Morrow, GA; two sons, James K. Edens, III and his wife, Lucinda and John S. Edens all of Mt. Carmel, SC; daughters, Mary Helen Edens of Sparks, NV and Nancy E. Arnold and husband, Kenny and son, William all of Willington, SC.
Jim was born June 18, 1935 in Charlotte, NC raised in Alexander City, AL, attended high school at Covington, TN and enlisted in the U.S. Army at Toccoa, GA. He served 3 years with distinction in the 101st Airborne Division in Prenussens, Germany. He graduated from Tusculun College, Greenville, TN June 1961.
Jim began a nationally recognized insurance agency in Clemson, SC, just out of college. He organized the Keowee Bowmen Archery Club, published a hunting magazine and led Boy Scout trop #235 on many adventures. He created Deer Unlimited campground near McCormick, SC and the nationally known preserve, Little River Plantation near Mt. Carmel, SC. As owner and operator he also found time to publish many articles in ''Outdoor Sports'' in the SE. Jim was a world class storyteller with a rich repretoire.
Jim became a covenant member of Calvary Chapel, Greenwood, SC, nearly 5 years ago. He had been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer the year before. He evolved from being a good, God fearing man to being a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He sought His healing love constantly throughout his hard journey. Jim Edens will be deeply missed by his family and friends from far and wide, who supported him.
The Celebration of his life and graduation will be held Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 5:00 O'Clock at Lake Jeannie, Route 823 to Old Charleston Rd., and left again into red gate.
