James Anderson "Poss" Bowen, 85, resident of 406 Chestnut St. husband of Betty Link Bowen passed away Friday Feb. 1, 2008 at Hospice House of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Abbeville Co. SC he was a son of the late James Newton and Geneva Anderson Bowen.
Poss was a World War II United States Army Veteran. He was also a mason and a member of the Clinton Lodge # 3 AFM. Poss was a retired supervisor with Milliken Textiles of Abbeville for over 35 years. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his buddies of the Hardees's Coffee Club. Poss was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Betty Link Bowen of the home; 1 son James "Bobby" Bowen and his wife Betty of Abbeville, SC; 2 grandchildren Pamela B. Wilson and her husband Boyce of Abbeville, SC and Jimmy Bowen of Abbeville, SC; great-granddaughter Baylee Wilson and a brother George W. Bowen and his wife Miriam of Spartanburg, SC.
He was preceded in death by a brother Jack Bowen and a sister Martha Bowen.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday Feb. 3, 2008 at 1:30 PM in Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville, SC with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. The family is at the home 406 Chestnut St.
Poss is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening.
