Helen May Wentz Pullin, 98, widow of the late Rev. Pendleton Bird (P.B.) Pullin, resident of Orange St., entered into rest Monday January 20, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 25, 1926 in York County, PA to the late James I., and Sallie Lydia Walker Wentz, she was a Homemaker and a wonderful cook.
Helen was the ultimate minister’s wife, serving long after retirement, she enjoyed cooking and ministering to the students at Abbeville High School as well as serving as a volunteer at the Hospice Store until her health would no longer allow her to work.
A founding member of Cold Spring Chapel, she and Rev. P.B. built it from the ground up, along with the parsonage. She loved her church and served her Lord faithfully. She attended faithfully until her health would no longer allow her to.
Surviving are her children, George P. Pullin (Wanda) and John B. Pullin all of Abbeville, Rebecca P. Barnes (Timothy) of Concord NC; her brother, Jesse Wentz (Louise) of Westminster MD; her sisters, Sally Ann Wagner of Weeki Wachee FL, Ruth Lombareo of Bradenton FL, and Pearl Smith (Lloyd) of New Port Richey FL; her grandchildren, Rebecca Aldridge (Aaron) and Meri Stewart (Robert); her great grandchildren, Gentry, Grayden, and Harper. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald, Sterling, and James William Wentz, and her sisters, Dorothy Keagy, Mary Warner, and Doris Strack.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday January 24th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Charles Ledford and Pastor Merl Beiler officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel.
