Frances Turman McElrath, 79, resident of 1160 Old Douglas Mill Rd. widow of Joe Robert McElrath died Tuesday Dec. 29, 2009 at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Abbeville Co. SC she was a daughter of the late Lewis Capus and Lucille Dunlap Turman.
She was a retired homemaker and was formerly employed with Sara's Fabrics in Abbeville. She was an active member of Abbeville Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Morning Circle of the church. She was also a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School for many years. In 2001 she was made an Honorary Life Member of the Presbyterian Women of the church. She had a fond love of animals due to her loving nature. She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. She had a deep love for her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by them and her many friends.
Survivors include 2 daughters Dianne Fleming and her husband Russell of Greenwood, SC and Cecelia Joiner and her husband Barry of Greenwood, SC; 1 son Robbie McElrath and his wife Linda of Abbeville, SC; 1 brother Bobby Turman and his wife Emma of Abbeville, SC; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday Dec. 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Carol Strickland and Mr. Frank Smith officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the residence 1160 Old Douglas Mill Rd. in Abbeville.
The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Wednesday evening.
