Essie Blanchett Sparks

Essie Blanchett Sparks, 70, resident of 999 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. wife of Doug Sparks passed away Wednesday Feb. 13, 2013 at her home.

Born in Abbeville Co. SC she was a daughter of the late William Guy Blanchett and Sallie Mae Bond Blanchett.

Essie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was also of the Protestant faith. She will be remembered for her caring and kind demeanor and will be missed by her loving family and many friends.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 49 years Doug Sparks of the home; a daughter Yvonne Simpson and her husband Kevin of Abbeville, SC; a son Timothy Douglas Sparks of Abbeville, SC; 2 brothers Vessie Blanchett and his wife Myrtis of Abbeville, SC and James Murray Blanchett and his wife Lucy of Port St. Lucie, FL; 4 grandchildren A.J. Simpson, Jenna Sparks, Krystal Simpson and Candace Simpson; great-grandchild Ja'Kyia Sparks.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Betty Smith and Madeline Staples.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Hartley officiating. The burial will follow in Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family is at the home 999 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Friday afternoon at the funeral home prior to services.
