Emogene Sanders Barksdale, 86, resident of 397 Hwy. 28 South widow of William "Bill" Barksdale passed away peacefully Thursday Feb. 26 at her home.
Born in Aiken, SC she was a daughter of the late Judson Foster Sanders and Iona Kennedy Sanders.
Emogene was a retired registered nurse. She was a 1950 graduate with a degree in nursing from The University of South Carolina Medical College of the state of South Carolina now MUSC. She was a loyal and devoted member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church. The Barksdale family would like to extend sincere thanks for all the love and care given to their mother by all of her caregivers and a special THANK YOU to Dr. George Cone.
Survivors include two daughters Sandra Jean Barksdale of the home and Linda Lawton (John) of Abbeville, SC; one brother Felder Sanders (Jeanette) of Ridge Spring, SC; one sister Donna Faye Billings of Ridge Spring, SC; one brother-in-law Harold Rodgers of Ridge Spring, SC; two granddaughters Courtney Jean Lawton and Haley Beth Lawton; and her two faithful companions Fritz and Folly.
She was preceded in death by a brother Judson Foster Sanders and a sister Katie Ruth Rodgers.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Feb. 28, 2015 at 3:00 PM in Lebanon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dan Smythe officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home 397 Hwy. 28 South Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon in the church sanctuary after graveside services.
