Dorotha "Dot" Simpson Tollison, 85, formerly of 650 Lake Secession Rd. widow of Allen Leroy Tollison passed away Thursday June 10, 2010 at the home of her daughter Andrea Pike.
Born in Abbeville Co. SC she was a daughter of the late Andrew Furman Simpson and Ada Lewis Simpson.
She was a retired textile employee with Rocky River Mills. Upon retirement she worked at Tollison Grocery for a number of years. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and Choir Director. She was also formerly the church organist and pianist. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include 2 daughters-Andrea Pike of Starr, SC, Mellinda Kurowski and her husband Brian of Abbeville, SC; 2 sons Melvin Tollison and his wife Danice of Abbeville, SC and James Tollison and his wife Gail of Abbeville, SC; 2 brothers Dean Simpson and Kerrell Simpson both of Abbeville, SC; 2 sisters Melba King of Anderson, SC and Nancy Moore of Yuma, AZ; a daughter-in-law Melissa Tollison of Abbeville, SC; 13 grandchildren and a number of great and great-great grandchildren.
She was pre-ceded in death by a son Allen M. Tollison and brothers Rudolf Simpson and Dale Simpson and sisters Mamie Dillashaw, Sue Simpson and Renie Argo.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday June 13, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Simpson and Rev. Terry Greer officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of her son Mr. & Mrs. James Tollison 622 Lake Secession Rd. Abbeville, SC.
The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to services in the church social hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church 1218 Hwy. 284 Abbeville, SC 29620.
