Doris Garrett Blakely

Doris Garrett Blakely, 82, resident of 117 Braircliff Ave., wife of William "Bill" Blakely, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Haskell Garrett and Hazel Painter Garrett.

Doris was retired from the Abbeville County School District office with over 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of Main St. United Methodist Church having served in many capacities within the church. She was a loyal and faithful member of the church choir, the church archives committee, the Suzanne Wesley Circle and the Wesley Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years William "Bill" Blakely of the home; 3 sons Fred Blakely of the home, Russ Blakely (Tracie) of Chattanooga, TN and Danny Blakely of Cleveland, TN; one sister Ileen Rector of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Main St. United Methodist Church with the Revs. Randy Taylor and Leon Thompson officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home 117 Briarcliff Ave. Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon in the Greene Center from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at Main St. UMC prior to services.
