Donald (Don) Lafloy Reece, 79, resident of Richard Campbell Veterans Home formerly of 214 Wilewood Rd. husband of Nancy Wilson Reece passed away Friday June 13, 2014 at Richard Campbell VA Home.
Born in Spartanburg, SC he was a son of the late Rev. David Lafloy Reece and Ruby Solesbey Reece.
Don graduated from Emmanuel College. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam Era where he served on 99 missions aboard a B-52 Bomber. He retired with over 20 years of service to his country. Upon his retirement he became the Auto Repair instructor at The Abbeville County Career Center.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years Nancy Wilson Reece of the home; one brother Ken Reece (Betty) of Abbeville, SC; two sisters Jan Campbell (Jerry) of Simpsonville, SC and Terri Gregory (Perry) of Lake Greenwood, SC; two stepsons Brian Sorrow of Abbeville, SC and Spencer Sorrow of Savannah, Georgia; two step-daughters Shannon Jensen Douglasville, Georgia and Judy Lusk of Honea Path, SC: 9 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday June 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Long Cane Cemetery with the Revs. Ray Massey and Jason Wilson officiating with full Military Honors to follow. The family is at the home 214 Wilewood Rd. Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends at the graveside after services on Sunday.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff and doctors for the compassionate and loving care Don received while at Richard Campbell VA.
