Derrell Simpson Caldwell, 83, of 116 Henry St. died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Abbeville, she was a retired employee with the Seaboard Railroad as a freight agent manager with more than 33 years of service. She also received the National Honorary Postmaster certification from its association. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Lillian Killingsworth Sunday school class and a member of the Goodtimers Club of the church.
Surviving are her son, Barry Caldwell of Lexington; daughter, Cheryl S. Stevens of Seneca; sisters, Prudence S. Williams and Cynthia S. Thomson of Abbeville; and three grandchildren.
She was the widow of Joe A. Caldwell and a daughter of the late Gerdie and Nettie Fisher Simpson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Abbeville. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Greene Center at Main Street, United Methodist Church before the services.
