DeRita Pearce Thomas, wife of Dewey Martin Thomas, Sr., resident of Old Calhoun Falls Road, entered into rest Sunday December 22, 2024, at her residence.
Born on May 21, 1942, in Fort Pierce, FL to the late James Earl and Lois Reagan Pearce, she was a nurse for many years and retired from the Badcock Furniture store that her and her husband owned for over 30 years.
A member of Friendship Worship Center, she loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as shopping.
Surviving other than her husband of 60 years, of the home, are her children, DeNita Jan Richards (Jeff) of Clinton, and Dewey Martin “Marty” Thomas, Jr., (Elizabeth Crisp) of Abbeville; her sister, Brenda Fortner of Okeechobee, FL; her grandchildren, Cortney Hightower (Nick), Katelyn Richards-Palmer (Garrett), Cody Richards, Kelsey Richards, Ryan Lewis Thomas, Kayla Cromer, and Colin Crocker; 8 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be conducted Thursday, December 26th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel.
A visitation will be conducted December 30th from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM from the Buxton & Bass Funeral Home in Okeechobee, FL.
Graveside Services will be conducted from the Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee, FL, December 30th at 2:00 PM.
