Danny Ernest Botts, 77, husband of Shirley Farthing Botts, resident of Old Hodges Road, entered into rest Thursday December 12, 2024, at his residence.
Born May 15, 1947, in Abbeville to the late Fred and Evelyn Hannah Botts, after graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War Era. In 1983 he earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina Spartanburg Campus and retired from the General Electric Company in 2002.
Danny attended Hodges Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Abbeville County Cattlemen’s Association, where he won the Cattleman of the Year award in 2008, he was also named Conservation Farmer of the Year by the Abbeville Soil & Water Conservation District in 2017.
Surviving other than his wife of 7 years, of the home, are his stepson, David Farthing and wife Taylor of Easley; his brother, Fred Botts, Jr. of Abbeville; his sister, Janice McKeown and husband Dean of Abbeville; his grandson Grayson Farthing; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday December 17th at 2:00 PM from the Hodges Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hampton Hunter, Rev. Sam Duncan, and Rev. Dr. Sammy Kay, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until the hour of service at the church.
