Daniel "Danny" Fletcher Tafta, 74, resident of 104 Greenville St. husband of Mary Andrea Smith Tafta passed away Saturday Jan. 23, 2016 at National Health Care of Lexington, SC.
Born in Abbeville County SC, Sept. 23, 1941, he was a son of the late Willie Kay Tafta and Inez Sorrow Tafta.
Danny was a former member of The Abbeville National Guard. He was a retired conductor with CSX Railroad with over 25 years service. Danny was a active member of Abbeville Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and former chairman of the maintenance and grounds committee. He was active in The Habitat for Humanity in Abbeville County and was a former board member. Danny will be remembered for his kind and caring nature.
Survivors include his beloved wife Mary Andrea Smith Tafta of the home; one son Steven Randolph "Randy" Tafta (Wanda) of Ninety Six, SC; one daughter Susan T. VanWey (David) of Chapin, SC; three brothers Tony Tafta of Greenwood, SC, Pat Tafta of Donalds , SC and Louis Tafta of Ninety Six, SC; one sister Mibie T. Smith of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren Jerod, Steven and Nicholas Tafta, and Heather, Noah and Kamryn Dominick.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy and Terry Tafta.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Jan. 27, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Abbeville Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Greg Henley and Frank Smith officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home 104 Greenville St. Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30 in the Telford Parlor at Abbeville Presbyterian Church prior to services.
