Chester Allen King, 85, resident of Carlisle Nursing Center, formerly of #9 Washington St. died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Carlisle Nursing Center in Due West.
Born in Due West, he graduated from Erskine College with a major in English and a minor in violin. He was a life long of Due West ARP Church, where he served as a deacon. He operated a dairy farm before serving with the County Tax Equalization Office. He became an English teacher and retired from Abbeville School District, where he was the Attendance supervisor.
Surviving are widow, Margaret McNeill King of Due West; son, Chester Robertson King of Due West; and three granddaughters.
He was the son of the late Alonzo and Hattie Robertson King.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Due West ARP Church cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Draffin officiating. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home in Abbeville. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Social Hall of the church.
The family will be at the home of his son, Chester R. King in Due West.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Due West Retirement Center of the Due West ARP Church, 112 N. Main St., Due West, S.C. 29639.
