Charles Ira Burdette

February 3, 1923 — February 10, 2005

Charles Ira Burdette, 82, resident of Richard Campbell Veterans Home, formerly of 200 Haigler St., widower of Ethel Burdette, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Richard Campbell Home.

Born in Abbeville County, he was the son of the late Ira and Mary Lou Busby Burdette. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a retired textile fixer with Abbeville Mills. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are daughters, Gloria Bond of Abbeville and Linda Suddeth of Hodges; sons, Charles M. Burdette of Villa Rica, Ga. and Jimmy R. Burdette of Abbeville; brothers, Claude Burdette of Tignall, Ga. and James Alford Burdette of Peach Tree City, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home chapel, Abbeville by the Rev. Tye Sorrow; burial will be in the Iva City Cemetery in Iva. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to services.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Gloria Bond, 200 Haigler St., Abbeville.
