Barbara Olivia Ashley Jones, 83, resident of 1877 Cedar Springs Rd. widow of James Benjamin Jones, Jr. passed away Wednesday Dec. 27, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Anderson County, SC, Nov. 9, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Alton Ashley and Geneva Catherine Bowen Ashley.
Barbara retired as part owner & operator of J. Ben Jones Construction after 60 plus years of service. Barbara was very active in civic and community affairs having been a member and former officer of the Women of the Moose Lodge, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, very active in Abbeville County 4-H Club and also the Abbeville High School Band Booster Club.
She was a very active member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church where she was an officer of the Presbyterian Women of the church as well as serving on various committee's within the church. Barbara was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and was a member of IPTAY for over 50 years. One of the joys of Barbara's life was spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, James Phillip Jones (Susan) of Greenwood, SC; two daughters, Beth Jones Kelly (Keenan) of the home and Debra Jones Wright (Rusty) of Abbeville, SC; a sister, Louise Lyon of Belton, SC; a brother, Johnny Ashley of Belton, SC; three grandchildren, Phillip Evan Jones, Joshua Kelly and Brett Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Davis Jones, Fisher Jones and Hampton Jones.
In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, William "Pete" Ashley, James Willis Ashley and Lawrence Henry Ashley.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Dec. 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Vikki Brogdon and Wayne Wicker officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home 1877 Cedar Springs Rd.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
