Azel Mack Freeman, 85, formerly of Abbeville, SC husband of Sally Price Freeman passed away Friday April 26, 2019 at Palmetto Health Medical Center in Columbia, SC.
Born in Franklin Springs, Georgia he was a son of the late William Freeman and Josie Ray Freeman.
Azel was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for a number of years with Daniel Construction Company. He was also Owner & Operator of Freeman Sign Painting Company. Azel was a former Shriner and member of Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was a avid sports fan and big supporter of Abbeville Youth Athletics where he donated his time and work through painting of signs and volunteering his help. Upon his retirement the joy of his life was watching his kids and grand kids play ball as Sally and himself followed them all over the state. Azel will be remembered for his wit and caring nature.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 37 years Sally Price Freeman of Orangeburg, SC; two sons Will Freeman (Erin) of Abbeville, SC and Adam Freeman (Kayla) of Orangeburg, SC; a step-son Johnny Evans of Anderson, SC; three daughters Gina Stern (Eric) of Niceville, FL, Karen Paul-Yampierre (Hector) of Atlanta, Georgia and Shari Freeman (George) of Atlanta, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Steggeman.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday April 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Melrose Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside after services.
