Avie Lee

Avie Exum Lee, 86, resident of 294 Stevenson Rd. wife of Frank L. Lee passed away Tuesday Oct. 15, 2019 at Hospice and Pallative Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Nashville, Georgia she was a daughter of the late John Hill Exum and Avie Nadine Simms Exum.

Avie retired and was the former Owner & Operator along with her husband Frank of Lee’s Fried Chicken for over 26 years. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church and a current member of Haywood Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: her beloved husband of 66 years Frank L. Lee of the home; a son Johnny Lee (Pamela) of Abbeville, SC; a daughter Fran Strickland Anderson (David) of Abbeville, SC; one brother John Hill Exum, Jr. (Jean) of Nashville, Georgia; four grandchildren Josh Lee (Cheyenne) of Abbeville, SC, Matt Lee (Jo Beth) of Abbeville, SC, Brandy Johnson of Bethlehem, Georgia and Jake Strickland of James Island, SC; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday Oct. 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Levi Jones officiating. The burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to services.

Memorials in memory of Avie may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
