Arthur DiRienzo, 91, resident of 501 Sunset Drive widower of Janet E. Hamre DiRienzo passed away Sunday Jan. 25, 2015 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.
Born in Revere, MA he was a son of the late Joseph DiRienzo and Cecelia Chigisola DiRienzo.
Art worked as a maintenance supervisor and recreation center manager. In his spare time he pursued his passion of playing and teaching guitar to many appreciative souls. He retired and moved to Abbeville at age 69. He was an active member and supporter of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Though he retired from work, he kept his love of music at Abbeville Opera House and performing for assisted living and nursing homes in the greater Abbeville Area. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. His loving family and his many friends will miss him.
Survivors are three daughters Lori Eller of Abbeville, SC, Susan Erhardt (Steven) of San Antonio, TX and Donna Catone (Marc) of Lansing, NY; one brother Joseph DiRienzo, Jr. of Norton, MA; seven grandchildren Jason Erhardt, Alexander Erhardt, Kelsey Eller, Jacob Eller, Michael Eller, Justin Eller and Amanda Catone; eleven great-grandchildren and dearest friend, Sharon Linnehan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Jan. 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with Father Bob Sayer officiating. The burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at 205 Millwood Rd. Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to services.
