Mae Saxon Waldrop, 86, resident of National Health Care in Greenwood, formerly of 107 Parker Street Abbeville, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at National Health Care. She was the widow of Arthur Lee Waldrop.
Born in Elberton, Georgia she was the daughter of the late H.B. Saxon and Lena Scott Saxon.
Mae was a retired bookkeeper having worked for many years at Savitz Record Center and McDill-Edwards Lumber Co. She was a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Mae will also be remembered for her delicious desserts she prepared at The Veranda Café. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her 2 sons, John Waldrop and his wife, Gail, of Abbeville, SC and Tommy Waldrop and his wife, Donna, of Hodges, SC; a granddaughter, Erin Freeman and her husband, Will, of Abbeville, SC and 2 great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Caleb Freeman.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Chapel at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Brooks officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home of her son John and Gail Waldrop 430 Noble Drive Abbeville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
