Helen Brown Hall, 88, resident of Augusta Gardens and widow of the beloved Dr. Robert G. Hall died February 19, 2017.
She is survived by three sons, Robert G. Hall, II and his wife Carolyn of Muncie, Indiana, George R. Hall and his wife Margaret of Augusta, Georgia and Philip D. Hall and his wife Rayna of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren Thomas Wade Hall, Lauren Elizabeth Hall, David Watkins Hall and Brandon Christopher Hall.
Born in Iredell County, North Carolina, she was the only daughter of the late Mary Emma Stevenson and George Percy Brown.
After graduating from Statesville High, she attended Mitchell College and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia.
After graduation, she served as the DCE of the Reidsville PSCE Church (NC) and the Statesville PSCE Church (NC). She became an Area Director of Christian Education and served churches in the presbyteries of Fayetteville (NC) and Raleigh (NC). She also worked at Erskine College before her retirement. Her husband was a Presbyterian Minister and they served churches in Red Spring (NC) and Birmingham (AL). She shared with her husband an interest in the art of preaching. She edited and guided through publication a collection of his sermons, “Singing the Lord’s Song” (2003).
She is the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Louis A. Brown, Statesville (NC) and Frank S. Brown Mocksville (NC).
A private family committal service will be held on Saturday February 25that 1:00 p.m. at Due West ARP Church Cemetery, in Due West, South Carolina.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday February 26th at 2:00 p.m. Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 2261 Walton Way, Augusta, Georgia with Dr. Matthew Rich officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately after the service.
